Freshman Year Reflection (2011-2012)
It is so hard to believe that I'm writing a review of my freshman year already. Where has the time gone? I can honestly say that I have learned more about myself and my ambitions in the past year than the entire rest of my life. I have met so many new people after moving down to Cincinnati and have grown into a woman I'm proud to be. My career goals have finally become crystal clear to me after switching my major from pre-medicine to nursing. The organizations I have become a part of this past year have all influenced and inspired me in some way.

"Sisters are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly."
The benefits of Greek life are hard to explain to those who are not in a fraternity or sorority themselves. I was skeptical about it myself before I joined Pi Beta Phi. Joining a sorority has brought so much happiness and a deeper meaning to my life. Pi Phi is an experience that is much larger than what most people could comprehend. My sorority sisters and I share a bond no matter where we travel, and have a friend regardless where we may relocate. I can call over 200,000 women across the country my sister who all share my same beliefs and values, as well as know the same secretive rituals as I do. We all share the same mission of promoting literacy through our philanthropic service and fundraisers. I have met some of my dearest friends and future bridesmaids through Pi Beta Phi. These letters stand for much more than just Greek symbols to us. We know that no matter where life takes us, we have an entire network of women who are behind us every step of the way. I believe that a family is formed through the love that is given and received rather than a double helix DNA strand, and that's what makes each of these beautiful women my sisters. I am a better person today because of them and know I will be a Pi Phi for life, for you don't lose the letters at graduation.
My freshman year has been packed full with headaches and sleepless nights, but has given me such a great start to the next four years of my journey. I have been privileged to meet my closest friends throughout the past year. I share bonds special and unique with all of them and know they're going to share with me both my greatest endeavors and accomplishments. I love all of the people I have in my life and I wouldn't trade any of them for the world.
I know the years that lie ahead of me here at the University of Cincinnati will only bring me more wonderful opportunities and experiences.
